PARKSIDE LAST PARTY OF 2012

I think we all gotta show some respect to the Parkside boys, they have stepped out of park away from the picnic bench and the playground and into the club, bringing something to Wollongong which i don't think this town has seen.

Every fortnight this group of six are pulling international talent and leading sydney underground house music DJs to the gong combined with sellout crowds. We have all been surprised with the quality of their parties and now know when a party has "The Parkside DJs" attached to it you can expect to be attending top class entertainment that you wouldnt normally see in your average wollongong night club.

I feel that wollongong is slowly stepping out of that generic scene where people just go out because their mates are, or because there is no where else to go, or because of the age old sleazy Wollongong tradition, to head out to pick up. I cant help but to feel that most of the people i bump into at a Parkside event are there for the music.

The dance floor is always full, the tunes are fresh, the age bracket is widening and I'm finding that I've been talking to people that have decided to come down from sydney for the night or have come up from down the coast because the rumours have spread that "these parties are sick man". I over heard a conversation of a local girl say to another guy, obviously from sydney "you gotta come next week you'll love it, its like.... ahhh ....Wollongongs version of Spice"

Anyway I thought i'd take a bit of time to thank these guys on behalf of the gong for their efforts and to share a video of the boys doing there thing .... and lovin it while the dance floor is getting their groove on. The Vid was filmed on the 23rd of Dec, the last Parkside Event of 2012 with 3 of the 6 parkside boys, Daniel Bresolin, Matt brown & Chrstopher Barker

Dont miss out on their next biggest event, i know i will be there, i was pretty devo i couldnt make it on the spice afloat cruise to catch a mate pari play with the almighty H.O.S.H but believe it on not the parkside boys have grabbed a hold of him and are bringing him to the gong, look out for this one!!!!

Saturday the 1st of December Review

I have to say wow what a weekend, taken me 2 days to recover. Anyone who was at Harbourlife could say that Adana Twins by far played the perfect set for the location, the weather the vibe. I have to say there was not one face in that crowd that was not smiling. Although, i was quite surprised they didn't slip their track Juicy fruit in there with Dr Dru i even had juicy fruit chewing gum ready to hold up and take a photo while the track was on. All in all i thoroughly enjoyed the sounds coming through those speakers.

Adana Twins - Strange @ Harbourlife

Before Adana Twins was Mark Farina who warmed the crowd up quite nicely. and after adana twins was Flume, who opened with sleepless but a real twist to it, really dubby and was a massive drop in tempo from the adana twins. But still, the crowd loved it.

After a day in the sun, dancing in 31 degree heat we made our way to check out Pacha, i was quite surprised with the production, although im not a massive fan of electro and/or tommy trash i do recommend taking the time to get yourself down to Pacha, it is quite a stand out for Sydney's clubbing scene. Currently taking on the label as Sydney's first ever Super club, Pacha has it all, entertainment including dancers, fireworks, confetti, an amazing light show and aerialists hanging from the celling and 10 different rooms for you to explore. there are 3 shows through out the evening, one at 10.00pm one at 11.30pm and the last one at 1.00pm that are timed perfectly so that all this is happening whilst the djs set is climaxing,  leaving the crowed in ore. The anticipation on the dance floor caused feet to stop moving and heads to turn, people not knowing where to look as there was just so much happening.

Now at this point we decided a little more deep tech sound was needed, so we made our way down the small confined steps of One22 where Dave Stuart had booked Nico and Christian, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Some call this duo "Berlins new wonder-boys" even though they are actually from a small town on the baltic sea. Big ups for their set thoroughly enjoyed the energy withing there deep sound.

To finish things off......, Now we were dead set on going to Afterhours, a new party that is run by Mark Cutajar in the early early hours of the morning (well pretty much the next day) where DJ CASSETTE, BEN ASHTON, SHEPZ, SPACEJUNK and Methodix Mainline were playing, But  were a little torn between Spice and Afterhours, we taking the lazy option, Spice, considering we were already at One22 which is just around the corner but this option turned out to be a great one. SPICE, a solid venue which never disappoints. Jay Shepherd absolutely nailed it on saturday night playing his set between 2 and 5 am, i would love to some how get my hands on that set list as every track was mind blowing he was then backed up by Murat Kilic which currently is holding the MIX OF THE WEEK for THM.

Any one who was at afterhours @ The Empire in Potts Point , I would love to hear how went as im spewing i didnt get there.

All in all a 10 out of 10 for Saturday :)
